Literature Text
Monsters may not want blood,
and they may not have claws,
nor the mandible, drooping
with smiling jaws.
Without scales or hair,
even growling, I dare
say that monsters may
lurk deep inside you.
Still, without teeth
they may gnaw at your soul;
without mouths, they may take you
and swallow you whole.
Or, leave you in tact,
save a widening hole
that pulls you inside
and reminds you.
and they may not have claws,
nor the mandible, drooping
with smiling jaws.
Without scales or hair,
even growling, I dare
say that monsters may
lurk deep inside you.
Still, without teeth
they may gnaw at your soul;
without mouths, they may take you
and swallow you whole.
Or, leave you in tact,
save a widening hole
that pulls you inside
and reminds you.
We've all met it.

Love this..it reminds me of a poem I wrote about how our childhood fears become the monsters inside of us...would you like to read it?
